Crown replacement and Tooth Lengthening

Has anyone here had to go thru a Crown
replacement with a Tooth Lengthening
procedure with a Periodontist.

Removal of gum tissue and bone grinding.
How was it and how long was recovery.

The procedure was not bad. The problem with me was the time line. The peridontist was booked up for like 2 months and then there was a six week space before I could get back to the dentist for the crown. YMMV

Thanks for the reply.

I'm still nervous.
It's been 3 weeks since my dentist
removed my original crown and installed
a temporary crown until I see the peridontist
at the end of the month.

The first day with the temporary crown,
it cracked the same night.

I had to go back the next morning for a replacement 2nd temporary crown.

Last night my 2nd temporary crown cracked,
so I have to call my dentist today to
schedule a appt for a 3rd temporary crown
before my appt next week at the peridontist.

I hope things go smoother.

Cracked temporary crowns is also something I have had more experience with than I want. The "ceramic" temp may look good but if there is any irregularity under it I think it is predisposed to crack. Went through three before they put an "old" ss model on. May not have looked good but it held up. And no I wasn't eating popcorn..

This makes me consider how I chew. I am one week with a temp crown, and the permanent is still two weeks away. It's my 5th crown, and I have had no problems with any of them, and the oldest is over 30 years. Has only been re-glued once.

Due to dipping copenhagen years ago, I had to get my gums cut back. Suffice to say I almost had a nervious breakdown durring the proceedure!
It made me swear off copenhaggen for about a year! However I must have a short memory as I started up again under a stressfull time in my life. Now, just thinking about it again, I just might go throw out my stash!
