For those of you that know about the CS-1, I hope you can add some clarity here. I have read about the markings, and know about the "M" and the "2M" stamps. However, what if there is only a "2" located between the CS-1 and model #?
I have been searching this, and other boards, but have only seen it mentioned once, with no clarification.
Thanks for any info.

The only other one I have seen mentioned with only a 2 was AYU09XX. Is that the "other" one you saw?

I actually don't know. I was reading a bunch of posts this morning and saw a description just like that. So, I didn't actually see it. I'm just wondering how many are like mine and what, if anything, a solitary "2" might mean.

Hmmm. Never seen one with just the 2. My guess that the inspector stamped the 2 but failed to stamp the M. The one I have you'll notice that the 2 is stamped almost exactly in the same place where yours is stamped. I can only imagine looking and checking the untold number of these guns one after another that someone possibly forget to to properly stamp each and every gun that they inspected.

I would only be guessing here.......but suppose the original 'M' was never stamped (never had the recall mods done) and it was done in the field with the rest of the issued guns, and the only stamp that the S&W armorers were applying was '2'??

Again, just a wild guess - speculation.
