S&W decided that the briskly recoiling CS45 needed magazines with an additional set of indentations near the top to help prevent the top round from being displaced under recoil. This is what differentiated them from the original 4513TSW 6-rd magazines.

S&W has said that using magazines other than those designed and intended to be used in the CS45 may not offer the shooter the same level of reliable feeding & functioning as when CS45 magazines are used.
