potential 3913 purchase

My experience mirrors that of GaryS.
I don't think kokopelli is ready to add another $150 to the $500 he has to pay for the gun.
Then there is the holster and mag pouch, etc.
Me however? I have a 3rd gen skill set.
I shoot all of them really well.
I would not hesitate, but then I would not be without one and
I have not been without one continuously for nearly 25 years.
If OP is going for some nostalgia here, I understand the hesitation.

But kokopelli, if you are going to commit to this weapon as the ONE which you will use to save your life, then it is worth whatever your Royal Rumpelstiltskin is worth! :-)

Furthermore, activate the slide mounted safety and you can stick it down the front of your pants without getting red sauce all over your spaghetti and meatballs! IYKWIM

Thanks for a good thread.
Let us know when you decide!

Ha!

That’s just it- for me the 3rd gen Smiths are the perfect semi-auto pistol… I’m going to stop by again tomorrow for another look. I do remember it had a spur hammer; as far as I know S&W didn’t make this option (?) but I know it is popular with a lot of owners… heck, I’d probably do it too… so, if I think about that, I’m saving money already!

fellow louisvillian here ... if you're looking for a 3913 I can point you in a direction. We may be talking about the same local shop. the one i saw was very clean i think it was 450

I added a spurred hammer to my 3913 after adding a 3913 NL; IMO it's a nice feature if you're not looking for super deep concealment.

The NL with a flush fit 7rd mag fulfills that roll for me!

Go for it!! Good Luck

A spurred hammer makes a lot of sense to me. I had one on my 908 that went to a favorite nephew when I had a health emergency. I wish I had one on my 469; having one installed isn't in the cards, though, not considering the time it would be at the gunsmith's and the cost, at least not at my age
