When they first became available, I bought a 4" CS1 new in the box with checkered wood stocks. I just picked up a second one with Pachmayrs. Most of the ones that I have seen pictured on the board have the Pachmayrs. Were both types of stocks offered by the factory and which (or both) were on the Customs issued guns?

Thanks,
Bob

Can't help you much, but i lettered a 3", mainly to find out when and where it was shipped, but also to see if the combat grips came on it. The letter said that it was shipped with "round butt grips"...nothing more than that. Talk about vague.
But going by the ship date and the date stamped on the grips, at least i knew that the combats weren't original.

IIRC SmithNut told us that the Custom Service issued CS1's had the Pacmyar RB grips on them.

The overuns had the standard round butt wooden factory grips.

My 3" issued CS1 came with the RB Pachmyars on, in its original box. Regards 18DAI.

Question: Were the issued Pachmayr RB grips without any exterior maker markings or medallions?

My Original Grips Were Marked

Both of my CS-1s came with these Pachmayrs on them. There was a Pachmayr emblem inbedded in the grip, and a slot cut in the bottom so the serial number could be verified without removing the grips (a requirement from the Customs Service, I've heard).

I bought this one new in January 1989.

I believe a true government issued CS-1 will have Pachmayr's with NO LOGO and a serial number viewing cut out in the base of the grip.
