CS40 and Plus P Ammo

I recently bought a used CS40. Does anyone know if these pistols are rated for plus P ammo? Thanks.

I would think not, seeing as .40 S&W +P is something of a rarity. There is, however, a higher pressure .40 caliber cartridge. Its called a 10mm.

To my knowledge there is not a +P standard for the 40 S&W. The 40 is loaded to a pretty high pressure to begin with.

As always my opinion is worth what I charged for it.

Well, if they don't exist then I don't have to worry about the rating! This scenario just did not occur to me. Thanks for the info y'all.

Just because there isn't a SAAMI industry standard for .40 S&W, that doesn't mean some small ammunition company might not decide to try and sell a hot-rodded .40 load that they label as "+P" for marketing purpose & advertising.

Personally, I wouldn't consider shooting any ammo in my own .40's that wasn't produced to recognized, acceptable industry standards.

Of course, I also only use ammo made by one or another of the major American ammo companies (who have acquired some experience in making .40 loads for LE agency customers).

Congrats on the CS40. I'd consider replacing the recoil & mag springs (with factory springs) before shooting the gun.
