Can a double action-only CS40 be converted to SA/DA?
I have a complete extra slide and all internals from a SA/DA but wasn't sure if it could be converted.
If so how hard of a job and what kind of price should a smith charge?

Yes.

You will need to use your spare DA/SA slide because your DAO slide will not accept the manual safety body.

In the frame, swap the DAO hammer and sear release lever with the DA/SA parts.

Voila, DA/SA.

How hard is it?

A 20 minute job if you take your time.

If you can swap the slide, hammer, and sear release lever, you can do it.

I've done a number of DAO to DA/SA conversions (and vice versa) to my CS40 and other S&W pistols.

Here is a link to some of them: Hail to the Chief: an Anthropomorphic Fantasy (with pictures)

And another (also see link in 1st post of this linked thread):6906 Conversion to DAO

John,
Thank you very much for your help!
It actually took 25 minutes :)
I really dig the two tone look!

BTW, todd, with "stang" in your screen name, I kinda figured you were no stranger to tools, parts, and their specialized interaction.

Your Chief looks good, and is now more versatile.
