A pistol I am not entirely familiar with. A guy was shooting one next to me yesterday. It's a 40 despite the 45 designation, no?

I have both the blue and SS flavors of the CS45. It is 45ACP and is, sadly, no longer manufactured. I find it to be a reliable, accurate and easy to conceal weapon that is my daily carry. I use a blade tech IWB holster and no one at my office or elsewhere is ever aware it is there. I load it with Federal EFMJs. If you can find one, give it a try. The only more concealable 45 I have ever found that was reliable (as in bet your life on it) was the Star PD, (also out of production) but it was a 1911 copy so it had to be carried cocked n locked, which always made me nervous. Also, the Star PD was VERY unpleasant to fire, but the CS45 is fun. I can run 100 rounds through it at a session and stil want to shoot more. I carry the CS45 with one in the chamber, safety off, so I don't need to turn the weapon 'on' to use it.

That's what impressed me most, very compact. Not to mention the guy was out-shooting me and my old faithful 639. Show off. Very nice gun. I thought he said it was a 40. though.

Not if you wear it right.

I wear mine on a regular basis under a light t-shirt in an OWB holster. I am not a big guy. I find it to be a very concealable pistol and a very nice little .45 for CCW. All it takes is a good holster and a good belt.

i love my cs-45 had it for 3 years and even took my ccw class with it....never has jammed and i have ran about 600 rounds thru it ...its a joy to shoot andits one gun i would never let go of...that being said im 6'1" nad weigh 260 and cant even get my picky finger even on the gun but i love my smith.

Hi and welcome.I have the Chief's Special in 9mm and I love it for concealed carry.I prevent the printing from the nasty Hogue grips by replacing them with Big Dog's custom Delrin Grips.I also replaced the Novak Lo Mount sites with Night Sights and it is at Smith and Wesson for conversion to Double Action Only from DA/SA.If you get the CS45 grips changed to Big Dog'custom 45 Delrin Grips and get a decent holster,Smith recommended Gould and Gooodrich which is excellent, you will have zero problems in Concealed Carry Mode http://www.gunsamerica.com/976706452/Guns-For-Sale/Gun-...mith_Wesson_CS45.htm

One reason they print easy is the rubber grips. Now I saw that Kurt C had adapted a factory delrin grip to fit his CS 45. I did it to mine as well, and now there are a bunch of folks on here that have re gripped their Chiefs. I believe Big Dog will even build a grip for you, so you don't even have do it yourself now. I carry mine in an Andrews Custom Leather IWB McDaniel II and I can carry in shorts and a T shirt and you would never know.

guess I should have read ahead a little bit, Crusier RN pretty much had it covered before I posted. I will add the picture here so you can see what I mean.

The CS45 has it's uses for me, but there are better alternatives for ccw in my opinion. The rubber grips and arch are some of my favorite things about the CS45.

The first new guns that I bought were the CS9 and CS45, both are treasured guns. The CS45 is thicker because it is built better IMHO. That is its only disadvantage over any of its competitors. If you like small, well-designed, accurate pocket guns (Yes, I am 6'2" and 250 pounds and the CS45 fits well in my jeans pocket, but I put it in a concealment holster), you will like either one. S&W 40 is not one of the rounds that I use.
Good luck.

I bought a new CS45 about 5 or 6 years ago and I've never had a problem with it.

I was not aware that S&W was no longer manufacturing these pistols. It comes as no surprise as I figured S&W would discontinue them one day because of their M&P line.

I usually carry mine in a Gould & Goodrich shoulder holster system with two spare mags but I'll also use a Don Hume IWB or an open top High Noon OWB. I have seen the holster selections dwindle over the years from various manufacturers.

They're definitely dependable and accurate compact pistols and I would never consider selling mine.

Now having said all of this, my main concealed carry weapon is a 340PD .357 Magnum revolver; I've learned to appreciate 11.5 ounces!
