Hey guys, new on this forum. I'm a CZ guy but recently got into third gen smiths with a 3913 Lady Smith and an early black/black CS9. These guns fills one of my niche need of compact/subcompact single stack DASA. (Sigp239 felt HUGE).

I detail stripped these guns and replace all the small springs. I was able to stock up on some 3913 recoil springs. However, the rarer CS9 flat wire recoil spring is another story. Midway had one in stock but emailed me 2 days later and told me they over sold it. I was not able to find any other source for these springs.

What are my options here? I know subcompact alloy frame guns are very sensitive to springs. Would any similar diameter/length flat wire spring work?

Edit: will cs45 spring work? I tend to use extra power recoil spring in my guns and shoot hotter stuff. Looks like CS9 spring has 16-17 coils and CS45 springs have 18-19 coils. Midway also list CS9D (DAO) under the CS45 recoil spring/main spring. I assume this is to balance the DAO only version. Would it work if I swap in the CS9D hammer/recoil spring as a set?

Smith is out with no ETA. Looks like I'll either have to wait or cut 2 coils off a CS45 spring assuming they are the same diameter.

Probably a better idea to wait for the CS9 springs than to experiment with a cut down CS45 spring. They don't make these CS9's anymore and I wouldn't want to take chances with mine.

In the past, I had better luck with S&W getting CS9 springs in stock faster than Midway. It's just more work having to keep calling in each week to find out.

I did find some CS9 spring for a little more than they should be, but I should be good for a few years. Hopefully someone is still producing these springs so they come back in stock.

Although flat coil spring from the same manufacture with the same diameter and length/coils should in theory be very close in effective spring rate.

Gotta get a spare myself. Will keep checking Midway or others. Then again only got about 100 rounds through mine.

20 year old spring vs new. Definitely a huge difference. New spring feels like around 18-20 lb while old worn out spring feels 12-14 lb. Can't want to shoot it this weekend.
