what would one expect to pay for a very clean 1 owner stainless cs9 with orig. box , paperwork and spare mag? it is an early model without the ambi. saftey. i did look on gunbroker and guns america and found nothing...

Gunbroker has two.. Both used, one $595 - one $650. I could find none on Guns America.

FWIW, I bought one NIB from Perkiomen Gunworks last year and I believe I paid $599.99 for it.

Later I bought a "like new" CS45 off Guns America for $450.00.

IF I were selling my CS9 (which I'm not) I wouldn't take less than $500.00 for it.

All of the pistols in the CS9 line are getting kinda hard to find. I like both my CS9 and my CS45 and think they are excellent pistols for anyone who loves a TDA platform..

My favorite aspect of the CS9 pistol is it's reputation for absolute reliability. I have not, in my experience seen the accuracy of my HK P7 or HK P2000sk in my Smiths, but each of them are more than self defense accurate and are built to last a lifetime.

I just bought a CS9 Sunday at a local sporting good chain store - Scheels. Known locally for their "high" prices. The one I bought was "used", but is in new condition - appears and feels to have never been fired. Came with original blue hard plastic S&W case, 2 magazines, papers, etc. Test fire date of July 14th 2005. I paid $475 plus tax. I think I got a good deal. I am VERY happy with it

alright here is the story. i bought this gun brand new i carry it off and on but could never make it my daily carry. i am a left handed shooter and as much as i try to be quick with this gun its just not happening.my hold up is the safety. i contact s&w about putting a ambi safety on it like the newer ones but they say it cannot be done. i really dont wanna sell this gun i love it. it concels great and shoots perfect. heck i have never had a jam. but now i am a father and i find myself carrying everyday to protect my family and i just cannot be quick enuff with the cs9 due to its safety. why dont i carry it with the safety off...very simple answer i dont want to....so i am leaning towards selling. even tho i really do not want to.....

There is absolutely NO danger in carrying your CS9 with the safety released on a live round. It functions EXACTLY like revolver does... The first shot is Double Action meaning that the trigger is drawing the hammer back and then at the apex of its stroke the trigger releases the hammer to strike the firing pin and then each remaining shot is Single Action. I would NOT sell your CS9 due to that. What a great CCW to have and it has a LifeTime Warranty, is made in the USA, is 100% reliable and very accurate to boot. How do you improve on that?

I have and use a CS9 and a 3913 nearly every day and find that due to it's very slender profile that it is very concealable and comfortable for all day long carry.

If it is THAT important to have an ambi safety look at the CS9's big brother...the 6906, 469, etc.

I would echo Growrs' sentiments. The only pistol I regret letting go was my blued single safety tda in '98.I traded for a recon 9 [6906] plus cash. I wanted Performance center quality and 12+1 capacity. I gave up ease of carrry and concealement, ended up buying a Kel-tec p32 to fill the gap. Ah regrets!![smile]

dont i feel like a J.A..... ya know as stupid as it sounds i never looked at it that way....i have always carried 1 in the chamber and the gun has a safety so i use it. and when i am out ridding on my quad i carry a .357 revolver and that hammer always rests on a live round and never thought any thing of it...

There is one for sale in classifieds for $625, which sounds a little high but this gun has enough work/accessories to make it worth that. If I had the money, it would be on its way to my house right now.

Wow, after seeing some of the prices listed in this forum I feel very fortunate. I just bought a CS45(blued) used but in excellent shape with box and 2 mags for $300. I have put about 50 rounds through it so far (Federal 230 grain FMJ) and it has performed flawlessly. Great accuracy and very smooth. This little beast does have some recoil but after making a tighter adjustment in my grip it handled great.

Purchased my CS9 last fall from a co-worker who was retiring and moving to CA. I was with him when he bought 2 years earlier for $589 +tax. He put 50 rounds thru it and never fired it again. He sold to me for $360. I would have paid $500!

$365 one year ago for my blued CS9 in almost like-new condition. No mags, box or papers but I did pick up 3 S&W mags for $45 to go with it. I really like my CS9.

So I think it's safe to say that if you can find one locally, and the gun shop is not aware that they are sought after by Smith fans you can find a great deal ($350-450). But if you look at the national suppliers, to include auction sites, they are going to sell for something closer to their actual "value" ($500-600). I bought one a few years ago for $350 and sold it soon thereafter for $400 (so I could buy another Smith instead). I have been kicking myself ever since.

Update on CS9 Price.

I was very fortunate to buy a CS9 (black slide and frame) from an original owner for $250. Love the operation and all its safety features. A perfect fit for my hand.

Best deal for a blued CS-9 I ever heard of. Did the guy know what he had? Saw a couple stainless and blued on Gunbroker for between $600 and $700 Price new when I bought mine in 99 was almost $600. Hey sometimes the best prices are from private sales. Folks don't always follow prices or don't care. Whats nice about yours is I heard on the forum the blued version was only made for a short time. Good for you.
