I put fresh tomatoes cut up in mine too.
I love garden vegtables in the summer.
In the summer my dad always kept a bowl of sliced onions and sliced garden cucumbers in a water and vinegar mix sittin in the fridge. I fixed a bowl a few weeks ago and my wife hadn't heard of this. I always thought is was kind of a normal thing to have around. My grandparents made it and since we also had it at home I guess that made it a global dish in my mind...good memories.
Anybody else do this? I remember he would add ice cubes if it was right from the garden to cool it quick and have it ready in time for the supper table. Cold and crunchy. It's been a nice treat the last week or two and just fixed up another batch.
