I have a 1006 (ser# TFD****) with adjustable sights that I bought in the early '90's and I just don't shoot it anymore. I have the original box & paperwork, six mags, a few new Wolff springs and a Bianchi leather holster. It's in excellent shape and I've put about 2500 rounds through it.

Anyway, I'm just looking for a ballpark value so I don't overprice it if I decide to sell.

Thanks,

Mike

$720 for the gun with box and papers about $180 for the mags...if things are in great shape. Holster & springs could be used to sweeten the package some...$1000 for all would be a good ball park...

The bare gun would probably sell for $625-700, depending on actual condition This would include at least one magazine. Maybe two. Box, docs, add maybe $50-75. The 4-5 remaining mags would be worth $20-25 ea. Brand new ones can be had for $32.

That is much higher than in Colorado. I see them go unsold for $500.

Same here. In my area, I've seen LNIB 1006s & 1066s, 4506s, 4566s going for between $450-$500.

People, especially the younger folk, seem to want the latest uber-cool polymer gun more than one of these old stainless antiques ... "from way back in the 80s."

1006s and great guns and I like Shadow1006's enthusiam for 3rd gen. 10mms but I see very few people buying new DA/SA autos of any type and the prices of 3rd gen. autos in general are going to be held down for a long time by police surplus sales. Additionally, 3rd gen. autos and 10mms in general are yesterdays news for service and cc and there isn't a target shooting game where they are ideal. Not counting 3rd gen. autos produced in quantities of 500 or less, $600 to $700 is top dollar in my area and adjustable sighted 1006s with no scratches or holster wear are much more common than well worn ones. Realistically, Mike's package would sell for $700 to $750 in gun stores near me.

I'm just going to hang on to mine.

Best Regards,
Gil

If you check the completed auctions on GB, you probably won't find many 1006's selling under $600. There is always the exception. I bought mine for $318 at a pawn shop. It's in great condition. My FIL decided he had to have one after shooting mine. His cost almost $700.

2 just sold on GB ,1 for 675.00 and 1 for 725.00. each had 2 clips. it all depends on what some1 is wanting .Im paying 750.00 for the 1 im getting . I think its a good deal,I may be wrong but owell,I want it

Here in CT they can go for about $500. I bought my 1066 with 2 mags and a Safariland Duty Holster, in MINTY condition for $500. The seller had a hard time finding a buyer, and I only bought it after he reduced the price from $600. I can see, however, that someone can get $800-1000 from the right buyer/collector.

Yep, the 1006 is one mean hunk of steel....

Whereas it's smaller cousin, the 5906, is arguably over built for the 9mm round, I think the 1006 is particularly well suited for the 10mm round. Arguably most 10mm handguns are under built for the round.

yup, there are exceptions but from my experience anything over 500 for a nice boxed standard large frame smith auto is icing on the cake.
not that they aren't worth more, they are, but what hurt their value is that over the years the market has been flooded with police trade ins that distributors were selling for under 400 some even with night sites and they brought prices down for all of them.
even most police depts have gone to the plastic frame guns.

$600 in my neighborhood. The good is that they are almost always in mint condition, the bad is that they are far and few in between.
