Couple of pictures of Shield with some accessories. I have lots of rounds on this firearm and it has never had a FTF or FTE. The new sights are dead on @ 15 yards with 2" to 3" groups. See the video showing grips, holster, sights & slide refinish on Youtube.

I sent my Shield slide and a set of Truglos that I acquired locally to James. The sights I had were the older (wide) rear sights. James put a set of the newer narrow sights on my slide. FANTASTIC service and a very quick turnaround! Couldn't be happier! :D:D:D

Shield looks great!
I just changed my order with James. He's installing my sites and apex striker block. I was having the slide done in titanium but I changed to gray, want a little more contrast.

I recently installed (all by myself!) Red/Green Williams Fire Sights on my Shield 40. And, 1 week later, installed TruGlo sights on my SD 40 VE (a price I should have passed on). IMEO, the TruGlo's leave a lot to be desired. By design, the fibers are too well shielded from light entering from the side. I would estimate they are 1/3 the brightness of the Williams offering in all conditions. My opinion, but take it or leave it. If I can, I'll post up some photos of the 2 tonight.

I have to agree. TFO leaves a hole in the scenario as far as I see it. Slightly back lit with darkness in front? Good luck finding a decent sight picture. Mid light that isn't enough to run the fibers, but too bright for the lamps? Good luck again. I shot an exercise on an electronic simulator using a G19 and TFO's. The green disappeared and the yellow was worthless too. I would have had better luck shooting all black irons or white dot sights. I recommend regular trijicons or trijicon HD or XS Sights if your eyes are going. Test your sights in every light condition and angle possible. Learn their weaknesses and how to compensate for it. Fiber optics are for hunting and target shooting. They leave too much to be desired for combat shooting IMHO.

They are basically the trijicon HD with two major differences: the ring around the forward tritium lamp is NOT photoluminescent(meaning it doesn't glow after a light is shone upon it) and the rear lamps have white rings around them instead of black.

I just put trijicon HD on a compact pistol and I like them. They show up well in all kinds of light. Looks like these ameriglos are just a cheaper option. The finish looks a little different and the rear sight is not serrated.
Ameriglo has some pretty interesting other options as well. Check them out.

Thanks forrest. Well, just decided on the XS Big Dot with tritium center for the Shield. (second Shield coming)
Got the TruGlo TFOs on Shield #1.

TFO's

I've had TFO's on my XD for 3 years now and haven't noticed any real problem. If you expect them to GLOW no they don't shine real bright, but I've shot from bright daylight to dusk blending into dark night and they show up just fine. I like the fact that during the day they are bright enough to see and allow me to get on target faster than plain sights or white dots. I just wish they made them for my HP. Course YMMV. each to his own.:D
