So I had a question that I was worried I already knew the answer to but I figured the worst I could hear back was a big fat NO. Figuring that it never hurts to try... I sent -

Subject line: Nation’s Finest Rebate

Hello,

I'm just curious if the rebate applies to veterans as well. I tried reading the fine print and I'm afraid it doesn't. I served ten years in the USN and have my DD214 showing my service. I have been holding out on buying a M&P in .357SIG for a while now and this would really be a deal maker for me. Any chances? Oh, and the USN email is only because I am employed by the USN as a civil servant now. Thank you for your time.

Robert Barker

This was my reply. I will edit the name as I’m not trying to cast stones here.

Robert,

Nation's Finest - Smith & Wesson

This should answer your question.

What I’m trying to figure out is if this is even an answer. I was expecting a basic yes or no with some added salesman speak maybe. “Yes, just provide a copy of your blah blah blah…” or “Sorry but no. As the page does list only active duty or retired, we cannot extend it to anyone else at this time blah blah blah…” That is the kind of answer I was expecting. Instead I feel like I got an answer without an answer. If I do get another reply then I will add it to this upon receiving. What do any of you think? Am I making something out of nothing or is this another example of S&W so-so customer service???

I think they just should have said "no," which is what they are saying. The offer seems pretty clear by its terms, but the response you got could be misinterpreted as " Read it yourself, fool." or "I don't have the huevos to simply say no." Either way, I think they could have given you a more thoughtful response. But I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

It gets old answering the same question over and over- trust me here.

It says rather plainly what it says:

"This offer is available to ALL active duty U.S. Military/Retired Military with retired Military Status, including Coast Guard, active Military reservist, and the National Guard. Customers wishing to take advantage of this offer are required to submit the following documentation: the redemption coupon and copy of sales receipt along with a copy of the front side of their Military ID card (active or retired) or, a copy of a Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) or a copy of their Military Orders. If submitting the LES or Military Orders please attach a copy of the individual's driver's license."

Do you have:
Military ID card (active or retired) ??
a copy of a Leave and Earnings Statement (current)??
a copy of their Military Orders (current)??

I don't have any of those, so I don't think I'll ask them if I qualify.
