Customizing my 66-2

I have been saving some money to buy a better daily carry gun and am considering having my 4" 66-2 converted to a RB grip and having the barrel shortened to 3" by C&S instead of buying a new gun. My current carry pieces are a full-sized Kimber and a 3" 629.

The 66 I would be using has been shot a lot so I wouldnt' be ruining any financial value in the gun.

Any thoughts?

Probably by the time you were done chopping, channeling and chroming, you'd be into it for as much as you may be able to P/U a R/B 3" for?
I can understand your enthusiasm for a 3" 66 though! It's probably my top "Grail gun". In my more sane of moments, I realize that not only is a 3" R/B M-65 more practical, but is far cheaper. But moments of sanity happen so infrequently with me, that I can easily ignore them!

If you send it to C&S, you'll be amazed in how long it takes to get it back. I have a three inch Model 65 that I had worked on. The Upside is they did an outstanding job on it, but the down side is, it took a long time to get back. I have three other 3 " 65s so it was no biggie for me, but if you only have one........

Me, I'd have somebody local do the round butting of the 66 and have it bead blasted where is was rb'ed. The four inch barrel is not much harder to conceal than a three inch if you have the right holster and belt. I have a four inch 66 that I had rb'ed many years ago, carried it when I was a Detective many years ago. Great gun and easy to conceal. But I was 6'3" and weight 240 pounds.
