Well, what that Gen Glock in the video doesn't have that the full sized M&P does have, is the removable grip back strap held in place by from the bottom by the frame tool. Don't think you can just hack an inch off it with a Dremel tool like a Glock.

Besides... once you do that, the gun is flat out yours alone. You will have 1) Voided the warranty and 2) Destroyed the resale ability with a modification that is highly individualized... I'm willing to speculate that most people will not be interested in something like that, especially with the voiding of the S&W life time warranty.

Plus, that mod will most likely make it where S&W will not touch the gun with a 10 foot pool (regardless of warranty status), so if and when any repairs are needed, it will all be on you to either do it yourself or find a Gunsmith willing to take it on, which unto itself might be problematic with reports of S&W limiting certain parts even to non-factory training Gunsmiths.

Just do a search for "grip chop", you'll finds lots of info on the how and why's of making your pistol grip shorter. David Bowie is one gunsmith (there are many others) who I know offers this service on M&P pistols. Glocks are super easy to chop, hell that's why I shoot plastic pistols, they are cheap and easy to mod with a Dremel! Don't worry about resale, police trade-in M&Ps are selling for practically nothing these days anyway. Have fun, it's your pistol and this is 'Merica! darn it!

yeah i kind of really like the idea of a full sized slide on a compact frame.. this really stood out to me as a worth while reason ..
improved targeting
improved felt recoil
improved concealment

personally i kind of like the look of the diy cut look.. and im no glock fan ...

Nope. Any defect that occurs that is not directly related to the modification, is still covered. For example, if the sight fell off, it's still covered because cutting the grip has nothing to do with that.

Maybe and maybe not. For most buyers you are correct. I won't buy a gun that has been stippled, cut or had other frame modifications. However, there may be some other person who has the same desire as the guy who cut it. You just never know.

I won't do this, but a shorter handle is desirable for concealment.

great info.. this what i was thinking... but i guess you can't really know untill you read the fine print .. many owner stipple their grips, also apply grip taps, get guns repainted...?... all of these guys would be *** out.. if this guy is right... which he might be... yes this cut would be waaaay more intense then a fixable trigger job......

personally i would buy one that already done if i could find 1 ... m@p 9CL... has a nice sound to it

YASSS!!! im thinking of getting a used gun to try it on ... worse case im out 2 or 3 hundred... and if it works why not just keep it .. lol why would i ever sell it... and if i did, it would be to someone i personally ear hustled the **** out of...

My fullsize 9 slide fits and function checks ok on my compact frame but leaves about a 1/2" gap at the end of the dust cover.

The mod I want to make is to put a full size .45 slide on a 45c. I've been told it will work. Alas, I can't get the 45c here.

im guessing is you get a 45c mag and took your time with a drimmel it should be no problem if you line everything up. i wouid personally try to keep that back strap with that lip on it the way this guy did it on this pick.....
i googled
grip chop m@p
and found this pic.. its not a 45 but it is a full sized 9

and please for the love of this community can you keep a step by step pics journal of what you did ,, even if you **** it up (which i doubt, this is not rocket science, cut a little, insert mag. cut a little more, then insert mag,(if perfect) then sand and buff, the guy who did this said he stippled the 9c mag to match the grip print)

Yes, I have a 40c and a full size 40. I've seen the same thing. However, I remember reading somewhere that the 45 doesn't have that gap.

I'm not cutting my gun. These are impossible to get here and I'm not taking any chances.

I have a Sig P320 Compact. I can put a subcompact grip on it and have it look quite uptown. Then swap the grip back.

I know I've now angered the S&W gods.

BTW: this is not my 320.

The 45 and 45c slides are fully interchangeable. A 45c slide on a fs frame is what the mid size is. There is no gap either.

My personal view on this is questionable. Not sure I would do it. I recently had a individual suggest I do this with a SIG p 320 full size, a $600.00 gun to start with, but I wanted a compact slide and all not just the grip area.
I would just rather buy the factory compact.
I can't justify cutting into a very expensive gun
That's just me though
To each his own
