A lot of you know just how many changes my Sport went through. Most of you know that I traded it off last month and got a real nice Mini 14 in the deal. The cybersport was the rifle that convinced me that the 1:8 5R barrel was and is something special and became an excellent long range prairie dog gun. I shot quite a few over 250yrds with my longest 262yrds using the old Marine Corps adage "one shot one kill".
The gentleman I traded with sent me an email today, he is also a long range shooter. The email included a picture to let me know how well "my" Cybersport shoots. This group was shot at 600yrds. I asked him for the recipe on the handloads that he shoots but this is still very impressive. The Sport I have now is just as accurate but this just shows what that barrel will do.

:D:D:D

p.s. Our farm sold today so I have lost some of my shooting areas, but because I have permission to shoot so many other places I am set! (I hope)

Ok I got a message from him today and the recipe for the rounds is:
25.3gr H335 with a 50gr Hornady Zmax. I never tried 50gr bullets in the Sports. I know that they like 53gr but when they come back around in stock I will look for some 50gr bullets to try myself.

That was an impressive group especially at 600 yards! My son was also impressed when I showed him the pic.

Yeah the guy who I traded with is just raving about how good that rifle shoots. He is a varmint hunter like I am. He was always using a 243 which is a great round on its own. Now he cant believe what that barrel will do. He told me that none of his buddies with 16" barreled AR's will shoot like that. I told him that I already knew that!! :D

Were they BT 50gr ? That IS nice shooting.

I read some place that these MSR's should be able to hit 800 yard targets. That sure makes it look do-able.

I guess those powder burns wiped off pretty easy, jk :p

That's an insane group! Looks like a 1 inch group (0.16 MOA:eek:) and I thought I was doing good with 0.35" @ 100 yards, way to rain on my parade :D

It's a bit sad that S&W changed the barrel spec on the sport.

It is sad.

Hard enough to find Sports the way it is and now they throw this in. I can see some picky shoppers out there wanting Melonite. Good thing "we" got ours before the big rush hit and the switch. I might try a new one once they get out and things slow down a bit.

It kinda does. I was always able to shoot seriously insane groups with that rifle. The one I have now does the same thing or at least really close. But I am going to have to practice. I am getting a few 50's from Bill that I am going to load up and check out. I am going to have to figure out how many clicks of elevation I am going to have to dial in for shooting at that distance.

That's an impressive grouping at any distance let alone 600 yards! Do you happen to know what type of glass he's using?

Thanks for the recipe. I wrote it down to keep as reference. You will like this, today my son asked me "Dad, what bullets are you going to reload for my sport?" Now, gee, I wonder what he is thinking? I have 4 boxes of the zmax bullets in a 40 gr though. Until now, I have stuck with 55 grain hornady vmax with varget and cci primers. I was going to load some 55 gr hollowpoint Midway dogtown bullets but I am not sure now. I am still on the fence.

You will really like the 55gr HP Dogtowns. Rebs and I have figured out that the Dogtown HP's are the same as Nightmare Extreme HP's from MidSouth Shooters supply. We have figured out that they are the Nosler Varmageddon HP's. I have since loaded all three and they are one of the most accurate bullets that I load. They actually for me are more accurate than the V-Max bullets. The most accurate bullet I load so far has been the Nosler Varmageddon Tipped bullets. The different Ogive seems to make them fly straighter and have given me some of the best groups out of my Sports. I do load with the CFE223 powder and I prefer #41 primers but have had great results out of Wolf and Tulammo 5.56/.223 primers. I also have loaded quite a few #400 primers. I have loaded and shot over 4 bricks of primers this year and most way through my 5th
