On my Smith 624, I have one chamber on the cylinder that has a bit more drag to it when you cock it single action, making the carry up for that one chamber a bit harder. Could this be a burr on the extractor star? I checked under the star, and its clean there.

No edit anymore? If the ejector rod is straight, clean the star, toothbrush and solvent. Spray it with (automotive) brake cleaner so it's CLEAN. Color the ratchets with a black sharpy. Pull the trigger 6 times DA. You'll be able to see how the hand is contacting the ratchets. The ones that need filed will be pretty clear.

I agree with Tomacatt on the cause, but if the carryup is working right and the gun is locking up tight, I wouldn't mess with it. You don't have to remove much metal and removing too much will have your carryup worse than when you started; you'd really be unhappy then. If it were mine, I'd just shoot it; my $.02 worth.
