Hello all.
I have a 3inch 36-1 that appears to operate properly, but I noticed if you press back on the cylinder face the cylinder will come off the crane assembly (with the attached ejector rod). The yoke screw is in place, appears to be the correct and tight (the screw is round head and tapered on the end in the same way my other Smith revolvers are).
Any ideas on what's wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Just to be clear. The cylinder comes off going back and past the grips while the yoke remain in place?? In this case the yoke is either damaged or the lug on frame is. If the yoke moves out of the frame, the screw is either to short or damaged or the end of the shaft that slides into the frame, called the button is damaged.

Thanks to all that answered! I'm going to check on your suggestions when I get home this evening

How's the lockup/alignment of the yoke to frame look?

Do you have access to a yoke alignment tool to check/confirm that the yoke is not bent since that could contribute to/cause the issue that you're referring to?

If not, they're good to have (especially if you own several revolvers)...or I'd be willing to lend you mine to check it?

Thanks! I believe I found the problem in the yoke screw but I did check the yoke and it did not appear to be misaligned. Forgot to mention it in the first post.
I really appreciate the offer to loan the tool though; quite decent of you!
To be more precise, I tried another yoke screw and that appeared to solve the problem. The old screw appeared to be just a small amount shorter.
