I was at the range last weekend having some fun with my 929 revolver and something happened that has caused the cylinder release to be spring loaded towards the cylinder instead of to the rear. in the releases current "resting position" I cannot pull the trigger because the cylinder release bar is doing its job and have to pull the release backwards about 3/8" to allow the trigger to be cocked. I appreciate any help that is forth coming

Sounds like a failed extractor spring. Does the center pin push in and out at the center of the racket? The center pin is what holds the release back.

Thanks Jimmy

Thanks, I decided to take the revolver apart and it made me understand exactly what you told me. I then looked at another n frame revolver i own and verified that the pins on the cylinder were the same size and were not worn, when I put the cylinders back together both guns worked. looks like the ejection rod was not tight enough. This was a new learning expirence. Thanks again

It is not unusual for a ejector rod to become unscrewed just enough to bind up the cylinder release. Make sure it is tight, but use a correct tool or a leather padded pliers and put 3 empties in the cylinder to secure the extractor when tightening.
