I’ve been a fan of the Czech guns for some years back now.

Started off with a CZ-82 and its wacky little 9x18 cartridge. Then came a CZ-452 .22 that was great fun.

But of all those, my CZ-75BD takes the cake:

This has been my primary carry for a couple months now. I don’t carry it downtown, but around the house and during yard chores, when hiking, camping, hunting, and general woods bumming it is constantly at my side.

The Simply Rugged Cuda pancake distributes the weight and keeps it tight to the side, and despite being an all-steel full size, it packs very very nicely and isn’t fatiguing even after all day.

I keep it loaded with 16+1 of the classic and potent Federal 9BPLE load. This is an old school hot 115 grain +P+ JHP that has an excellent reputation for effectiveness.

I feel very well armed with this pistol at all times. The controls are excellent, the sights are good (three dot phosphorescent that glows nicely in the shade), practical accuracy in my hands is superb. I can shoot this gun extremely well.

All the power I need for my neck of the woods. Great capacity. Rock solid and reliable as can be. Not the newest or flashiest 9mm on the market, not by far, but it suits me great.

I have two CZ75 compacts. One has the safety and the other (a lightweight PCR) has the decocker. They are two of my favorites to shoot. Those two, my Girsan Hi Power MC P-35 PI 9mm, and my trusty M&P 4" Compact 9mm are each equally reliable and have earned their place as my "rotation" weapons. All have 4" barrels (approximately), and all carry a reasonable number of rounds (making it unnecessary to carry an extra mag). The M&P has a slightly thicker grip, but all four pistols fit my presentation style perfectly.

I had a CZ TSO, trigger was great and felt wonderful to shoot. But, the accuracy was a little disappointing. But would love to have a Phoenix Drake, it's patterned after the CZ75 design.

I have a CZ82 in 7.65 Browning. Bought it new. It's one of the sweetest shooting guns I own. Have used it for qualifying for Permit to Carry. I also own several surplus 9X82s and a 380 ACP.

I have owned about a dozen CZ firearms. None have disappointed me. An alloy 75 compact is a favorite winter carry gun. A HB 527 in .204 Ruger is a favorite walking around woodchuck rifle, and a 457 in .22lr is my main RF match rifle. My folding brace .9mm Scorpion is nice to have in the truck when traveling in spotty areas, or 4 wheelin and camping.

Full stock 527 in .223 is another walk in the woods favorite, shown below.

My first guns were a ČZ52 and a vz.50, bought as a pair from a buddy to go with my Jawa and ČZ motorcycles. About six or seven years ago, a ČZ75 BD came my way, that is to say, I saw it under glass at an LGS, and I grabbed it up. It is a very nice gun that shoots a lot better than I do. If a ČZ 82 came within range at a decent price, I would be glad to add it.C7981031-ACC9-4DA6-9925-A4B9A0964E07.jpeg040E6FFD-950F-4D24-B3D4-1D765AD61BAB.jpeg

My favorite has to be the P07 .40. Carried one for over 10 years till I switched to a Shield Plus 9MM OR. The reason I switched was the Shield is almost as accurate as the P07 and the Shield Plus uses the same magazines as my wife's carry gun (Equalizer).

The P09 9MM is more accurate than the P07, which is really saying something.

I did carry a CZ75 Compact and a P01 Omega for awhile but went back to the P07 .40.

If you haven't been a CZ fan for several years you won't know about how few pistol models they make these days compared to 5 years ago or so. No more stainless steel CZ75's. No more CZ85's. No more CZ75 SAO. No more carry sized .40 S&W. No Rami. No Omega CZ75 or P01. No idea why the pistols I liked so much are mostly gone now. Only the CZ75 Compact and CZ75B in the metal framed pistols. The last three CZs I've brought home were discontinued models I ran across at gun shows.

After owning a couple of Glocks which are long gone and a couple of CZ's I have to believe that most would prefer the CZ if they had the chance to handle one. The CZ's point much better for me than a Glock. Not 1911 point but close to a Hi Power. A PCR is one of my carry guns.

Those are incredible Swiss pistols, based on a Czech design. I’ve got a couple of the Standard models, which are SAO and have the bells and whistles.
