Whats the best DA/SA for concealed carry without safety?

Wow, no pun intended, that's a loaded question!!!

Since you say "without a safety", and there aren't too, too many traditional double actions with 1911 safeties, but there are some, it becomes very subjective. A Chief's Special pistol, if they still make them and I think they do in 9mm, is an amazingly great little gun for concealed carry. If you love the S&W decocking system like I do then you're bound to like the "CS" pistols.

It's not like you can't carry a service sized pistol concealed. I rarely do it but I did carry a SIG SP-2022 (9mm) OWB under a "longish" vest for hours on Friday night and then again on Saturday morning. No problems. But the CS-45 would have been far easier.

So would any "smaller" S&W - there are plenty of 3rd Gen pistols that fit that bill. I don't have experience with the new M&Ps so I can't comment there but a 6906, for instance, would be great.

If you mean without using a safety, I would go with the 3913. If you mean the gun does not have a safety, go with a revolver.

If you mean which is the best traditional double action pistol with a decocker, as opposed to a safety, for concealed carry, I don't really know. One of the compact CZ 75 variants, perhaps?

Since you're asking on a Smith forum I will go with the easy answer and say 3913. Even better variant would be the 3913LS or NL which eliminates the decocker/safety from the right side making it a bit slimmer. If you want a higher round capacity then the 6904/6906 would take you from 8+1 for the 3913 to 12+1 or even 15+1 with a magazine adapter for the 6906. My regular carry is a 6904 15+1 in Lobo leather OWB. I have no concerns carrying it chambered and decocked with the safety off.

Those are TDA but if you aren't stuck on that then you may consider an M&P. My 357c has no safety so the carry configuration is already determined. M&P's are of course available with a safety for those who want the choice.

Sorry, but while Glock is a fine firearm (if you can get past the ugly) it certainly isn't the only word...

Do you mean: a DA/SA gun without a safety, or a DA/SA gun that has a decocker/safety that you would carry without the safety off?

Ya just gotta love GFB's.....they never quit

Please, I own a bakers dozen of 3rd gens as they are my passion . I also own a few Sigs , Beretta's , CZ's and OMG GLOCKS , 4 to be exact a 19,26,34 and a 36 . The horror is I like them, doe's that make me a GFB??

The 26 conceals as easily as the CS9, the 36 as the 3913 and the LCP380 has them all beat. Remember the 1st rule is to have a gun with you. Rant off, sorry nocents that GFB thing rubs me like a rasp

Can't forget the 3rd Gen S&W autos with frame mounted decockers. Much like a Sig, it's a TDA with no external safety. They're the ones that end in 26, 36 and 76, like the 5926, 6926, 4076, 4526, 4536, 4576, 1026 and 1076.

Redrock , those are like hens teeth to find and parts are even harder to come by. I have never seen new grips for those guns anywhere.

^^^ While fair to say they are not common, there were a bunch of police trade in 5926 and 6926 pistols that flooded GunBroker last year. Trade ins of the 4026 popped up last year for cheap too. Midway has the plastic factory grips listed, though out of stock now. The Hogue rubber grip for the frame mounted decocker model can be easily modified to fit the frame mounted decocker guns.

If they were cheap then I would at least get 2 , one to use and one for parts. That's one of my fears with our 3rd gens , the new S&W will stop ordering parts and dry us out. If you notice most parts are all ready backordered .

^^^ No doubt, a concern that many here share. Some folks are even stockpiling spare parts. Not a bad idea.
