Went to Glendale this year and had my first display.
Dad's Guns was my table title.
Gary Lowe came up with the title. Thanks, Gary.
There is a S&WCA Journal article in the Fall 2023 issue about the display.
Had a thread about the project about a year ago.
Initially was going to bring eight S&Ws that had belonged to my dad. Wound up with nine S&Ws plus three non S&W guns.
Got permission from Bill Cross to bring a Hamilton Model 27 .22 cal. rifle and a pair of Ruger .22s. A Lightweight Single-Six (Tri-Color) and a Bearcat.
The Hamilton belonged to my father and my grandfather and was given to me at age 4. The Single-Six was one of dad's fast draw guns. He was in a fast draw club in Ft. Worth, Texas in the late 50's. Also brought his fast draw rig he made himself. The Bearcat was given to me on my 9th birthday in 1959 and was my 1st handgun.
The 9 S&Ws:
.38 M&P Model of 1905 Target, 6" blue
.44 Hand Ejector 1st Model, 6 1/2" nickel
.44 Hand Ejector 2nd Model, 5" blue
.357 Magnum REG #657, 5" blue
K-22 Outdoorsman, 6" blue
1955 .22/32 Airweight Kit Gun, 3 1/2" blue
S&W 9mm Auto #1313, 4" blue
.357 Combat Magnum, 4" blue
Model 53 .22 Centerfire Magnum, 6" blue

Besides the guns had pictures of my dad, letters, invoices etc.
Had fun, met Roy Jinks, met a few Forum members, met a few Association big-wigs.
Planning a one gun display in Tulsa. Will bring .357 Magnum REG #657 along with the provenance I have for it.
Hope to see a bunch of you in Tulsa.

Very nice collection! My Dad was never really into guns...maybe something that resulted from his WWII service in North Africa and Europe. However, he did bring back a few...a late war Walther P-38 (9mm), a Browning Modele 1922 (7.65mm), a Carcano Modello 91 cavalry carbine (6.5mm) with folding stiletto bayonet, a Berthier-Lebel Model 1892 artillery carbine (8mm), and a nice custom made Schuetzen rifle (rare bolt action version similar to 1871 Mauser action; maybe 8.15x46?). None of these are particularly rare or valuable, but I do think of my Dad every time I handle them. I'm not sure that my two sons will appreciate them like I do when I pass those guns down to them, but I hope so.

I have all of my dads guns, and grandfathers guns. I am 67 so they go way back. Problem is they are all junk quality because nobody had any money back in the day. They used them for hunting food! Not a single hand gun.

I do have a couple trap door 45/70 I need to research that are interesting going back to the 1800's

Mine either, although his discharge papers I still have indicate he qualified as expert with both rifle and pistol...He spent the duration of the war on Attu, finally shipping out in the early months of 1946...In the mid-50's he bought a Remington .22 bolt rifle at JC Penney's in Ft. Worth...He taught his skills to my younger brother and myself with that rifle...

We always knew he admired the revolver Joe Friday carried in Dragnet, but he never got around to buying one...In the 80's my brother and I pooled our money and bought him a S&W Model 37 2" SB for Christmas...Those were the only guns he ever owned...30 years after his death and my brother's, I sold both guns using the funds to kickstart my own collection again...:)...Ben

Photo’s

Glad you had a good time at the “gathering”. It is great that you have your dad’s guns & have an appreciation of them.
Your first post has a photo & a thumbnail.
Nothing after that, photo wise on the other posts.

Are y'all saying you cannot see pics in the thread?
I can see them.
I removed the thumbnails, but for me I can still see the enlarged pictures.
I reposted a picture on the first post.
Can you see that?
Will try to redo the pics if necessary.

When I first opened this thread, Post 1 had five thumbnails and five large images. Posts 2 and 3 had no thumbnails and no large images.

I use Firefox. I highlighted the text area of Post 2, opened the "View" Menu, and clicked on "Repair Text Encoding." That put two thumbnails and two large images back in that post.

Then I tried the same thing on Post 3 and nothing happened. But I noticed a little warning triangle on the lock icon just left of the address bar and clicked on that. I got a message. "Parts of this page are not secure (such as images)." There was a link to clear cookies and site data, which I will click after I submit this post, since I got a caution message about consequences.

EDITED TO ADD:

OK, after a restart I saw five images and five thumbnails in Post 2, which I think is what I am supposed to see. There was still nothing in Post 3, but I repeated the "clear cookies" operation, which immediately logged me out and opened this thread again (with an autologin I have set up in Lastpass). The screen also popped up immediately the Single Six image from Post 2. I closed that and tried to fix Post 3 again. Nothing. I still have the warning triangle on the security status icon.

EDITED ONE MORE TIME

I did a complete logout and shutdown, then reopened the site and went to this thread again. This time Post 3 had all its thumbnails and all its large images. But I still have the warning triangle on the security icon in the address bar.

Sounds like you are having severe browser issues. Try Brave - it works.

Previous generations did not own firearms like they do now. Hunting rifles were usually military surplus like the 30/40 Krag. Everyone had 22 caliber rifles because the ammo was cheap.

On my father's side they had a bunch of surplus from the Civil War but it was not stored properly. So the only two items that exist today is a bayonet and a canteen.
