I inherited this a number of years ago, Havnt shot it much since then. I remember when Dad bought this sometime in the mid 1950s i remember he paid 150.00 for it which at that time was a half of a months wages. (he was a policeman). Went on to win several police competition shoots, i have all the trophys as well. The origional grips tools etc are still in the blue box. The Palm swell-thumb rest grips were bought about the same time so are period to the gun. they are completely checkered in the gripping area and appear to be walnut. No markings on the grips as to manufacturer.
Serial number is K203xxx which i believe puts it around 1955?
pic included hope it works.

Welcome to the forum. That's a beauty and from your father makes it priceless. I believe the serial number puts at 1953 looking at the SCSW. I've often said on here that I wish I had a gun from a close relative that had a little family history.

Not to question your memory but I believe the price would have been a little less. The only thing nicer is a Model 19.
Your gun seems to have the whole package. TT, TH, TS and I'll bet has a nice trigger.
The stocks seem to suggest Sanderson.
A very handsome revolver.

Welcome aboard! That's a nice heirloom, I agree with the above posts. Circa 1953, target hammer, target trigger, grips could be Sanderson's or Herrett's, checking looks like Herrett's. If there is a number stamped on the interior grip panels they'd be Sanderson's.

Nice gun--nice history. Congratulations! My vote is the grips are Sandersons, but very desirable either way.

Either way, you're a lucky guy. Shoot it a bit; your dad would want you to. Keep it around for your son.
