Dallas gun range destroyed by fire.

This may sound trite but, I am sorry for your loss. I hope they rebuild and the idiot's picture is in the new lobby, as a warning! Ivan

I’m thankful I can shoot from the back porch. I’ve been to shooting ranges and yes there are some people who should never be allowed through the door and some that shouldn’t even be allowed to own a gun.

Got any room on that porch?

Be easier if people think of a tracer as an incendiary round.

Oddly enough, I just posted this the other day:

The party line is impact indicator and direct fire. Low magazine indicator was popular.

But I always thought it was to start a brush fire to close down the firing line and wake up the hose draggers.

All depends on which ones they are. Red tip/bright is immediate and orange tip/subdued is delayed.

This range is in a shopping strip mall on West Mockingbird, near a major freeway. I saw the news coverage and wondered how they let a small fire get that out of hand, to where it reached the stored ammo that went off.

The media says the range is a total loss, but no one was injured, other than a fireman, for smoke inhalation. Media also quoted the police as saying that firing tracer isn't illegal, although the range posted against it. They say it's a civil matter... and I bet that someone does get sued.

I hope the range was fully insured. No word on whether other busineses were affected.

I guess somebody should do a better job of sweeping unburned powder off the floor.

You are right but I've had people insist to me that the black stuff on the floor is only graphite. Of course there is graphite mixed in with the UNBURNED POWDER.

We had a guy ignite our outdoor range a few years ago with tracers. The vegetation on the berms was all winter dead.... burned quite well.

I am bummed out big time. One of my favorite places to shoot.

Several years ago the roof collapsed and they rebuilt. Hope they can return soon.

It will be with all kinds of new restrictions I'm certain.

We do seem to be our own worst enemy at shooting ourselves in the foot.
