Damn cat

Sorry for your loss. We have an outside cat that turned 19 the last week
of July. She is still active but has lost a lot of weight. I only hope she
doesn't go and hide somewhere to die so I can bury her out by the mule
pasture fence with the other pets.

Sincere condolences to you and your wife during this sad time. May Our Lord give you comfort and peace. I truly believe we will see our lost friends again someday.

So So true. Pets affect us so differently, in the US Military I served as a Navy Corpsman, almost 100% with the USMC as an IDT Corpsman, but I've also served 3 years in the IDF, I've lost close close friends to enemy action, and I've learned to take it in stride, I've also lost a lot of people in my hospital rotations, and now as an RN and a Nurse Practitioner on my route are 14 nursing homes where I've grown close to the patients and eventually lose them, I've taken that in stride. However, a few years back I lost my dog to old age, sat with him all night, carried him to the vets where he was put out of his pain, and I found that it was almost impossible to drive home safely, much less wield the shovel to bury him. It's curious how animals effect us, I've learned to sort of shell my self off from emotions when it comes to my patients, but find I'm unable to do so with pets.
