did a search on DW rev. nothing came up. was wondering how many SW fans have a dan wesson rev.? caliber, barrels, blued and stainless. they are accurate, the changeing of barrels make the weapon versitle, CCW, hunting and target. i have friends that still use their 44 mags. as a 2ed. weapon hunting. one friend has a stainless 44 mag. w/ 4 barrels. i was standing in his den one xmas when he gave it to his son-in-law.

I do own one. Yes, you can lock the barrel tight to the cilinder. There is a flat piece of metal for it to place it inbetween the forcingcone and cilinder. Otherwise it will to tight and the cilinder will not turn.

I am not that happy with the lock of the Dan Wesson. It is a bit flimsy in my eyes.

The Dan Wesson would not be my first choise of revolver.

thuer. a 357 came w/ a stainless .007 gage. to set the distance between the barrel and the cyl. i would set the tolerence when my friends wanted to change their barrels. for hunting or CCW. over the years not one barrel nut/ shroud would shoot loose. and that was when we all reloaded. i think i had a 29 at the time, i no longer have the 29, they still have their DW's. if you ever think about selling the DW, please send me an IM. espically if it a 44 mag.

Based on a sample of one...had a 6"-barreled .22 several years ago. A huge & heavy gun, it shot reasonably well despite a slightly rough bore. Unless things have changed, resale value is disappointing. I've stayed with Colt and S&W since.

I have a mod 15 and like it. It has K frame size and L frame strength. I would not change back and forth between it and a S&W as carry guns as the cyl. latch is different and training will always over ride thoughts in a stressful situation.

I bought a new model 15VH 2" in 1981. I bought a 6" barrel a few years later. I find both barrels to be accurate. The blue finish on these is as good as it gets. I have not measured it but it feels more like a L frame than a K.

I would like to get a 10" or longer barrel just to have one. They made a 15" barrel for it.

I had a model 14 something, a 357 with fixed sights and a matte finish (4" barrel). It shot better than I did and was only $158 in 1982. I always wanted the long frame in 375. the 357 Maximum's were great because if you wiped out a barrel, just install a new one, not a big deal. Try that with a Ruger and S&W didn't even try for a Maximum length revolver. The adjustable cylinder gap was a nice feature, but none of my friends ever found a better gap than standard. Ivan

744,bought for hunting.Pretty accurate to say the least.Dbl action(lockwork) isn't hitting on much though.

on the lounge many things are discussed here. it is a S&W forum. i already know that the S&W's are good weapons. all though i don't now own a rev. maybe the S&W i had should have been sent back to the co. all weapons serve their purpose to the owner that bought it, if not the weapon is sold. thanks for the input on the dan wesson. never got to shoot the 15" barrel. but kit guns looked great. always wished i bought the 44 mag. w/ the 4 barrels.

i did read a thread at the bottom of the page from 2012 on dan wesson versus the smith. it was interesting. another reply on it is a s&w http, what was the op thinking when he wrote the thread. i was talking about the monson made weapons/REV. should have stated that. dan wessons QC seemed/did go down after the Monson made rev. heard the dan wesson pistols were not that good. but their price seems to be high. always wanted to get a tarus 1911. but heard plus and minus on the 45.

I have 3. a 357 pistol pac a 357 4 inch heavy barrel. and a 22 pistol pac. I like them better than any other revolver ever made. They dominated the sport of IHMSA. I have never found them to have a flimsy lock. A S&W model 19 is more refined but I dont think it would ever stand up to the abuse that dan wessons have withstood esp. cals like .357 maximum. My choice of revolvers would be (I am a shooter not a collector) Dan Wesson,
Ruger, Then S&W, then Colt Randy

I have a 15-2 that came with a 6" vent rib, and later bought a snub barrel and a 8" heavy barrel. I had an earlier 14 with 4" that was my first revolver. I also bought the first DW .44mag I ever saw. It's really great for heavy loads. It has a regular barrel and a ported barrel. The ported one is a pain to disassemble if it was shot very much. I really like the guns, but the ergonomics of the .44 leave a little to be desired.

I have both S&W's and DW's, in .357 and .44, like them both ,the DW's are more accurate, and strong as a anvil, loaded up full house .44 for pigs/rams years ago, guns still tight and shoot good. My brother has a .41 mag DW which will shoot 2" groups at 100 yards all day long off a rest, my .44 isn't quite that good but close. As mentioned the Monson guns are the best, as far as quality, though I have not shot the new .357's by CZA, but I am told they are quality guns. Parts and support are aviable from CZA and DWK arms, but except for a crack in a grip years ago I have never had a problem. The barrels are a snap to change. When you do find one they are less $$ than a S&W, but seem to be going up in value. There is a DW forum site, just Google it. Have taken several deer and turkeys with mine, never a problem that 10" .44 will reach on out and touch them. Broke the back of a big buck at 150 yards with a 240 JSP, he went down like a ton of bricks.
By the way I like Rugers and Colts also.....too many guns too few $$$

Had mine since the early eightys, robust, accurate, killed two deer with it, passed my ccw with it. It is a Monson so I don't know about the later models.

I found a DW mod 15-2 at my lgs a few weeks ago. Made in Monson and aside from a faint turn line, looked to be in perfect condition. I've only been able to shoot one box of .38's through it because of the ammo shortage we are all experiencing. It was a little heavier than my M19 S&W but I can honestly say the trigger and accuracy of the DW was pretty darn close to the Smith. A few differences in this gun such as the cylinder release but nothing to get in a twist about. It's a keeper.

When I decided I needed a bear attitude adjustment pistol to take camping I went shopping for S&W in 44 Magnum (actually I just really always wanted a 44 mag). My LGS had a couple of 629's but one was an 8" and the other in poor condition. Oh, wait a minute the clerk said, we just had this come in on consignment:

Dan Wesson 6" 44 Mag with Pachmar Grips. I knew it was from the 80's but who in the hell can wear out a 44 Mag? Nice action with a great trigger, locked up nice and tight. Bottom line it is a kick in the pants to shoot, deadly accurate and I walked out the door with it for..... $369!
