Well this is a bit surprising for me being a non lover of 1911 and all. I never had a great love for them, never fit my hand right, could never shoot them all that great, until my pops got ahold of a USGI stainless springfield copy and brought it over, long story short I really enjoyed shooting the gun, so I went on a quest...

I arrived at Dan Wesson more specifically the Specialist and im just blown away, this was spawned from a drunken decision to buy the gun lol, anyway I had it listed and the more I played with the dang thing the more I fell in love with it. So I've decided she's gonna stay.

Will mostly be a suppressor host tho next to impossible to find a Threaded barrel for the gun I called CZ and they had 1 in stock, I yelled MINE at the fella on the phone and it's on the way...

I felt I had to share this because the gun it self, tho no where near a S&W PC gun it's sure as heck fit like one, so tight, so smooth, ill blast her this weekend for a range report.

I went back n forth about a Nighthawk, or a Wilson or and Ed brown, even Sig but cost compared the DW in MY OPINION is the absolute best bang for the buck...

If considering a 1911 a new age 1911 with that performance center "Fit" I would suggest Dan Wesson.

The 1911 is a classic and proven design. I carried one for years as a cop and have one on my hip even now. This one happens to be a Ruger SR1911 and I have to say they did an excellent job with it. Also, the Rugers use the series 70 design that so many people prefer. I'm glad you decided to keep yours. They do have a tendency to grow on you.

1911's weather a 1911, 1911A1, or some variant, seem to be the standard that all modern semi autos are measured by. Even the plastic guns live in the shadow of John Browning's brain child.

As I'm getting grey of hair and long of tooth, I have slimmed my accumulation down to 7 of the 1911 family (including 2 Para-Ord LDA's)!

When my sons turned 21 they were given a full sized 1911, with 200 rounds, complete tool and cleaning kit, instructions and 6 magazines, holster and mag carriers. With the paperwork they have, they can call me or any competent gunsmith and have the parts overnighted any where in the world!

If someone says they don't believe a 1911 can fulfill their handgun needs, they are either biases or just haven't looked very hard!

BTW, all my 1911's are in 45ACP except a series 70 Commander in 38 Super, (I get phone call from strangers trying to buy that one).

I have to admit I like other guns in any of the 45's (except GAP) and all told between semis, single actions and DA revolvers and carbines I have 27 weapons in something 45. It just makes a person sleep well at night!

Love my DW Specialist Commander.

I own three 1911 style handguns, one Colt Officers model, one made from Colt parts and an odd bbl, and one made from USGI parts on an Essex frame. And then I own several styled like 1911's but made in either a smaller caliber or just scaled down in size for the caliber for which it is made. I like the fact I can shift from one to another without having to relearn how to shoot them as they all function the same just in a smaller size.

IMO, Dan Wesson is the best "bang for your buck" 1911 out there. I've owned several different makers 1911's in the past, and shot even more, but to me Dan Wesson has been the best. The 4 I currently have are not going anywhere except passed down to my kids and / or grandkids.

BTW, I'm still on the lookout for a couple more DW models, always looking.

Yes, DW is a great 1911. I own two gubment models myself, a Valor in 45acp and a Silverback 10mm. The SV is niw retired frim their lineup I believe. Love them both.

Really diggin the BDU pic Sharkbait.

I've never been a fan of rails on a 1911 pattern handgun but I have to admit yours looks great with the light and the extended base plate on the mag. Congratulations!
