Dan wesson value

There are multiple models of Dan Wesson 357's. In the 80's they made a real nice model and a service model, with matt finish and fixed sights. Barrel length and heavy or reg are some of the features. Ivan

I like DW's ( have a DW 44mag ) but unless he is throwing in a large wad of cash, or you are swapping a beater..... not even close. The DW should be 350-450 tops.

It's a model 15. Case included

I would bet a bundle that the "case" is not what the gun came in. Looks like a cigar box.

No good quality photos of DW.

No decent description.

JMO but I wouldn't touch it without a lot more info.

And FWIW I wouldn't trade my RIA Tactical for it anyway.

I've always wanted one, but could never find one at a price I'm willing to pay. Everyone says the quality is good, but they don't command the prices that a S&W or Ruger does. I've always seen them in the $350.00 to $500.00 range for the frame and one barrel, and up to $1,500.00 for the frame with 4 barrels kit. I hope to add one to the collection one day.

Good luck,

Dave

For the gun with one barrel I wouldn't pay more than $300 tops. Barrels alone are expensive and the kit with 4 barrels will probably bring $1500. I tried to sell my Tenant's model 15VH which was a 6 and a 4 inch barrel and the wrench to change barrels. No one offered much of anything.

They are good guns, my brother has one.

The Dan Wesson model 15-2 .357 Magnums are very well constructed and finished revolvers which don't command good prices on the used market by themselves. Pristine examples with a single barrel and the barrel wrench go for $350 to $400 tops in PA. Ones showing even a little wear drop to $300.

I have one with an 8 inch barrel with 2-7x32 scope mounted. Good shooter, but not as smooth as an S&W or Colt.

I have a 15-2 , 8" VHR ( Vent Heavy Rib ) bbl..It has the Monson Mass stamped on the frame..The frame has the purple hue..
S&W revolver fans are not fans of the DW..Mainly due to the cylinder latch being different, it's in front of the cylinder..
Value of mine is in the $425 range, not that I would sell it for that..

I love my 4" 15-2. Just wouldn't trade a 1911 for one with just a 6" barrel. DW are some excellent revolvers. The latch isn't hard to get used to.

I don't disagree about the latch amd getting used to it, BUT if you have S&W revolvers, which I do, it takes a different movement to release the cylinder..Definately no "cowboy" thumb release and swing the cylinder out..
NO I don't do that..But for the S&W purists, they don't even like the "lock" on the new ones..
Let alone the cylinder rotation being different..
Note...I bought my 8" DW for long range pistol shooting..Not a carry weapon..If you have the head spacing correct, it's a dinger..

I found this mod 15-2 at my lgs recently and paid $395 for it. I've heard the ones made in Monson are of better quality but have no definitive proof of that. The forward cylinder release takes a bit of getting used to but it's no big deal. The DW is well and solidly built. It's a real nice shooter and very accurate but, in my opinion, does not have as nice a trigger as my S&W mod 19.

Looks hot.

I bought a 15 last year for $350. I cannot imagine any 1911 being worth that little.
Ther is a good DW forum with wrenches and replace bbls and shrouds being available occasionally. A new wrench runs less than $25 and are generally in stock.
