Im looking for everyones thoughts on the DAO 3rd gens. I currently only have DA/SA. Do DAO 3rd gens have a similar trigger pull as the double action trigger in a DA/SA. Around 10lbs?? IF so is this something that can be greatly reduced to 4-5lbs?? Thanks Guys!

I have a 6944 on lay-a-way. Picking it up on Tuesday. I plan on shooting it that day as the range is only 3 miles away. I will give you a report on that night! :D

The DAO guns precock the hammer so the trigger pull is shorter than the DA pull on a DA/SA. I don't know if it's also lighter but it feels that way to me.

I have a 1086 DAO. The action is about the same as my 4506 if I shoot it in DA ,IMO. I have never gauged them. I bought the 1086 due to it's rarity/ collectible. But I found I liked the DAO for certain uses. I use it as my Defense gun at home. IMO It's less likely I would have a negligent discharge at a potential perpetrator. I am quite proficient with it and it has lost of stopping power.

I would suggest you get a hammer spring pack from Wolff.
Springs for SMITH & WESSON NUMBERED SERIES Semi-Auto Pistols

It will give you the option of trying different hammer springs to see how light you want to go with the trigger pull.

I don't know if you are going to be able to get something as light as a 4-5 lb trigger pull. Also, you want to make sure that the hammer will have enough power to avoid light strikes with the ammo you use. Some primers are harder than others.
