Yes, it's that magical time of year again when the Darwin Awards are bestowed, honoring the least evolved among us.

Here is the glorious winner:

1. When his 38 caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a hold-up in Long Beach , California would-be robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked.

You just can't make this stuff up!:D

It may be he just did not know anything about guns. There are many that cannot tell which way to load the rounds.

The accompanying photo was made of the rifle in a veteran police officer's patrol unit.

But many yrs back, a man in Monroe, LA robbed his own workplace and waited for police in the parking lot. Reason for doing so is he had cancer and could not afford treatment but knew if he was in jail, he would get it free.. He was tested and found he did have cancer. He was jailed and got free medical treatment, along with a few yrs of free room and board.

 sounds like justice was served there ;)

Sometimes....just sometimes....the criminal provides his own justice.:D

Pity is isn't more common, considering how ignorant AND stupid most criminals really are.

I have seen and asked about that very thing and told that many of them are not allowed to have it locked in place but that they can have it like that so it is as ready as they can get at a moments notice. To me, it's as ignorant as when I had to carry a rifle with an empty mag just to keep the dust out of the action. I was told an intruder wouldn't know it was empty... That was while I was in the Navy. I can only hope it isn't a growing trend.

Thank God the criminal element IS NOT to the level of Hannibal Lector. We'd be in trouble. Geniuses they are not. Nice 'cruiser ready' on the AR15......stand by for the loudest sound in the world: CLINK!

In Mesa AZ a doper robbed a small private pharmacy for some narc Rx. The pharmacist gave him placebos instead. He came back when said pills had no effect & demanded the correct dosage he originally robbed her for, problem? There were three detectives in there getting the video of the incident. Needles to say he was arrested after seeing the business ends of their pistols.

Drugs does dumb things to stupid people.

When I went for inservice training--we had a Navy vet who did worse than the officer did--at least he put them in horizontal and not vertical--like the Navy vet did. Said vet managed to jam 4 rounds in it--ruined the magazine and got kicked off the range.

Many years ago I went to a friends house and met her father a police officer and he showed me his revolver . It was a S&W m-10 but when I inspected it I noticed the cylinder wasn`t properly closed , so I looked closer and saw he had loaded 5 .38 specials and one .357 mag. I just removed the.357 and said nothing . Lucky for him he worked in the office as a radio man and didn`t do any field work. I met him several times after that and he never did impress me much- he was just too dumb for words , but he thought he knew it all.
