I have what I believe is a K-22 I bought from a coworker. Her father registered the gun along with a K-38 with a similar serial number on Guantanamo Bay, Cuba Marine Base in January of 1954. Serial number on the 22 is K198787, 4" barrel, hand ejector 5 screw (I believe one is behind the grips?) with strain screw and adjustable sights. The K-38 was purchased on 12/30/1953 with a serial number K198900. Any help in dating this gun would be appreciated. I apologize for the poor quality photos. Regards, Ed

Closest SN on my list to K198787 is K-22 K198102 which shipped in 9/54. It is in the 1953 manufacture SN range, K175,638 – K210,095. Note that S&W did not ship in SN order, so yours could have shipped before or after 9/54, even as early as late 1953. But it was made sometime in 1953.

Thank you everyone, I could not find the original request from 7 years ago and forgot the date of manufacture. It is almost a birth date gun as I was born in 1954.

The serial number on my K38 Combat Masterpiece is close to yours. # 199088, was shipped to Rex Firearms 11-1953. You have a couple nice treasures there. Mine shows no use and is in its original box with tools. Thanks, Big Larry
