Date my model 37 please

Hi,
I have what looks like a new model 37. It has 3 screws with a SN J614XX ON THE BOTTOM OF THE GRIP. On the left side of the grip at the bottom is "MD" below that a "3"
then below that 18494. Yoke 18494 MOD. 37.

J614xx (the serial number) was shipped in 1969-1970.

The 18494 you see, is a production number. It has no significance to dates, it just helped the factory guys keep the pieces together.

It does, however, show that your gun was not pieced together throughout the years.

The Model 60 is many people's favorite carry piece because it resists signs of being carried, unlike blue and nickel.
