Dated grips?

Are a set of k-frame target grips with a date on them worth more than a set of grips without a date?

Also, some have a cut out for speed loader others have the football relieve cut. Is one more desirable that the other?

Dunno, big help, right? Can tell you I've owned many Smiths since 64, none have had numbered grips, some with chalk marked not related. If you have maybe an older gun that are numbered to the gun, worth more if you sell it, if just the grips, probably not more. Coin toss, to some it matters

They are from different eras. Worth of a gun if you were selling could be more if you had the right style on it.
If it is your shooter, just use what look & feel good to you. It is always a good thing to have extra stocks around. Bob

Someone might be willing to pay more for a dated grip if they were trying to return a gun to something resembling a factory original condition. The grip date typically predated the gun's ship date by a few weeks or months.

The trick is finding that person, looking for a grip date in a specific year and 3 - 4 month window, when you're ready to sell. Any date outside that window he would have no interest in.

Otherwise, dated grips from the '80's and late '70's were nothing spectacular. They were just grabbed from pile and slapped on a gun as it moved thru the assembly process.

In earlier times grips were actually hand fitted and made to a higher quality. Those dated grips from the '50's and '60's are worth more money IMO.
