Dating & Appraisal of my S&W .32 Rev, Mod 31-1

Hi,

I am from India. I have just purchased a S&W revolver, from an authorised dealer, on my Arms Licence, a .32 S&W Long, 3", Mod 31-1, bearing Serial No. H161***.

I want to know the year of make, etc. details of the same. Also, I will be grateful if the experts appraise the said Arm.

Can you help me? Please do.

Welcome aboard with a very nice first post! From those pictures it appears that about the only firing that revolver has experienced was when they proofed each chamber of the cylinder! I agree with Mickey D that it would easily bring $400 to $500 if it is as nice as it appears, perhaps even more. I don't know about gun prices in India of course, but I would not expect it to be available there as readily as here. Congratulations on a fine acquisition!

PS Let me add that I enjoy shooting that caliber and have several S&Ws so chambered. Of course I wouldn't use it on Bengal Tigers or the like, but it is a comforting piece to have on my concealed carry permit. One nice thing about those little guys, like small dogs they gain a lot of respect from the noise they make! I don't feel "undergunned" in an urban or suburban environment with mine, but would go with a larger caliber for the pursuit of game larger than vermin.

This gun costs approx 12500 USD in India? Gun laws here are absurd.
