Dave was my friend. In the 80's I was in a golf league at Avon Fields GC in nearby Paddock Hills. Dave practically lived there and I got to know him.
Some days I would grab my clubs and head there to see if a group needed a 4th. Dave would walk into the clubhouse, see me at the bar and yell: "Hey Rusty! You ready to play?"
His groups were always interesting usually being folks from "Who's Who" in the sports, entertainment and business worlds.
Dave was insanely funny and a good golfer. He made it hard to focus on my game from laughing so much. I swear that when he smiled it seemed he had 64 teeth.
He went to nearby Courter Tech HS and we would often talk of growing up with Crosley Field as our second homes.
Dave battled cocaine and eventually overcame it.
He long suffered from Parkinson's Disease.
He was a man of faith and I take comfort that he is in a better place.
