When my eyes were younger, I was O.K. with the red ramp front sights. The one redeeming feature was the visibility of the red insert, but the couple new revolvers I've bought (M66-8 and M69)
had inserts that were a really dark red, hardly looked red at all.
I wanted something with a distinct top edge like a Patridge but not plain black. Both revolvers weren't bought for target and range use, I take one or the other on every backcountry outing. Sometime involving overnight stays, so I always have one of my Surefire dual output (600 lumens max) along.
I checked Dawson first, but only saw the Tritium front/rear they make for the M&P pistols. Later, when I did a google search the page I've provided a link for came up, they do make a pin-in front Tritium sight that has the same basic shape as their S&W fiber optic and plain black ones.
I ordered one for my 66-8 the middle of March and got it installed last week. The sights are made to order and take 2-3 weeks.
The red ramp that came on it measured .270", closest one that Dawson listed to mine was the .280".
Since my rear sight is only maybe 3 clicks from the bottom, the extra .010" with the front will be nice.
The ring around the Tritium lamp is a pale green. It doesn't jump right out at you like the orange Ameriglo sight on my G48, but is still really visible without being distracting.
Glows as bright after dark as the TruGlos and Trijicons I have.
Now I need to get one more for the Model 69.
