Dead people getting Stimulus Checks

I had read this was happening. True fact, today my daughter received a US Treasury check for $1200 made out to her father with Dec'd after his name. He died in 2018.
I haven't received mine and neither has she.

All depends on how well the estate is cleared up and letters sent. When my first wife passed I had to tell Social Security ASAP because she was getting disability. I think the tax return for that year made it clearly she was dead, too.

Funeral home notified SS so that was stopped immediately.
Daughter was executor of estate and filed then tax return for 2018(year of death) in a timely manner. There actually was money due to the IRS but no funds or assets to pay it. And he hadn't filed for several years prior to that and he would have owed then also most likely (independent contractor)

Sources say that there isn't a reclaim clause in the stimulus bill but in view of the unpaid taxes her and I suspect the gov. will want it back at some point.

Well, the programmer that wrote the program to pay out the checks didn't allow for checking to see if a death notice was in file with SSA. They evidently took anyone fining 2018 tax should get the stimulus, if financially eligible.

My friend just had his mother’s check delivered to his house. Problem is that she’s been dead over two years now... He’s real buttoned up with his affairs, so I’m positive that proper paperwork was done when she passed.

I told him that these payments to dead people were a drop in the bucket compared to the billions and billions and billions going to big corporations/political benefactors. We’ll never know the true extent of the waste and corruption associated with this boondoggle...

I'd start looking in the A/C vents for cameras and microphones.

I'm no apologist for the IRS, but I think we should remember they were under tremendous pressure from Congress, the President, and the public, to move quickly. When talking about millions of people, I would be surprised if mistakes weren't made.
