Dear S&W:

If you could market a 22 LR conversion kit for my Shield 9mm for less than $200 retail I know with the high cost of ammo it would be a success.

Imagine shooting 500 rounds at the range for $20!

Not only would it make for more enjoyment for the whole family not worrying about breaking the bank on ammo but increasing the number of rounds and visits to the range would hone a shooters defensive skills.

S & W 22 cal M & P pistol

Why don't you look at the S & W M&P in 22 cal. Its made by Walther in Germany and its a nice gun. I have several 22 handguns and its one that I frequently take to the range. Light weight and its priced right!

I would not doubt that they (S&W and Walther) have at least discussed a .22 version of the Shield. With the popularity of both the Shield and the M&P22, it just makes sense.

If they make one which I don't see in the near future ,it would most likely be for the fullsize 9 and 40.As JM4151 says just go buy a M&P 22.I have one to practice with to complement my full size M&Ps.

The M&P22 is made in Germany. The Gun Control Act of 1968 is still in effect, and a 22 the size of the Shield may not "make points." I have not looked at this issue, but it might limit the ability of S&W and Walther to make a 22 version of the Shield. That said, a 22 version of almost any carry gun is a great idea!

I'd really be surprised if a kit could be produced for $200 or less. One of the cheapest conversions I know of are the AA kits for Glocks and $275 is a decent price for them.
