The thread about fishing reminded me of about 40 years ago when I ran a party/head boat, deep-sea fishing.
My license covered it, but I didn't know squat about fishing, fortunately, the mate was a top shelf fisherman. I learned a lot from him.
Fishing was good back then, codfish were plentiful. We often got families with young children. It was fun to take a kid's rod just to "check it was on bottom or some such thing", get a fish on and hand it back to him, saying I don't think there's any fish here. The look on the kid's face when it was realized a fish was on was priceless.
My favorite trip was when the local school system Special Ed class (Please forgive me if that term is politically incorrect now.) chartered the boat. We had about a dozen students and close to that many chaperones. The kids were simply wonderful. Some needed more assistance than others, it was great taking a kid's rod, getting a fish on, and handing it back to them.
The weather was good, the sea was relatively calm. To this day I still smile when I think about it.

Mr. G.

You have a good heart!

Thanks for posting this.

We vacation in Cape May each year and do some surf shark fishing. My boy's the brains and muscle behind things, so I can't claim any credit that we're usually successful. Here's my Sand Tiger from last year.
