My 9 yr old grandson has recently taken an interest in what lives in what my wife and daughters refer to as my "dead room".That's the room the whitetail heads and mounted Northern and Steelhead live in.Same place all my guns spend their time in.Same place I try to stay as much as possible.I'm there right now(computer lives there too).Anyway,his paternal grandfather shoots IDPA on weekends and has taken him along.Takes a .22 rifle and after the matches lets him shoot the rifle.When he is here he is always asking to see this revolver or that revover.I figured it was time to let him try one.He's a pretty smart kid and has already gone on the S&W website and actually knows some of the models and recognized them here in "THE DEAD ROOM".(I take a lot of abuse)So last Saturday in 97 degree heat we grabbed my Dad's H&R922 .22 revolver and went up back.Drove a 3ft 2x4 in the ground and proceeded to instruct on safety and respect and burned through 100 or so rounds of .22lr.He's a southpaw so it was a little awkward at first but we got beyond that and there are probably about 80 or so holes in that 2x4 from about 20ft.We finished up and he looked at me and said"Thanks Pap that was really cool."That's the first revolver I ever shot."It dawned on me a little while later that 47yrs ago
