Dept Issued Model 59?

Saw a very cool old school Model 59 today. It had stamped lettering on the right side of the frame that said SUNNYVALE DPS in a pretty small font size.

The pistol was in very, very high condition, so I was left to assume that it was a department gun but would had to have been an unissued extra that never saw duty holster miles.

He was firm at $525 and no, I did not buy it. And apologies, I did not get a picture of it.

It does make me wonder if anyone has compiled a list of LE organizations that ran 39 and 59 pistols? Obviously we know very well of the Illinois State Police.

That price is about spot on for a m-59. Maybe dicker a bit. Im not a LE collector.

Arcata and Pacifica PDs in California had them in the late 70s early 80s.
