I saw this today in a slide gallery of weapons confiscated by the TSA.

What's wrong with this picture?

A friend of mine fired a .45 caliber derringer and suffered permanent loss of the use of and all feeling in his thumb. That is entirely too much power for a derringer.

The picture quality isn't very good, but it's chambered in 45 Long Colt.

I used to have a Davis chambered in 22lr that looked just like that... even that was a little scary to shoot. I could only get two fingers around the grips, and I've got tiny hands.

I know nothing about derringers, but the name on the barrel assembly appears to be (it's hard to tell) "DEPRINGER".

The TSA needs higher resolution cameras.

wrong .45's, those would just fall out the other end of the barrel if you tried to load them.

I have two of those, one 410/.45 colt, the other is .357 mag.
A friend of mine shot both of them, say he wouldn't advise doing it again

I have one bought as a novelty and shot both 410 and 45 colt with no serious ill effect.
It's not a target gun, but it didn't numb my digits.

I always felt that the .38 S&W or .380 would be the ideal calibers for a double Derringer. I fired one in .45 Colt once, that was enough.

45 Colt x 410 SS

Ammo shown is 410 ShotShell and 45 automatic COLT pistol.

So what's the problem?

I have a Cobra Derringer in 38 spcl. and I have decided it's not worth the pot metal it's made from.

wrong .45's, those would just fall out the other end of the barrel if you tried to load them.

You're kinda limited to shooting uphill.

That there were two of them there makes me think they took them out of the gun.

My vision is too poor to read the stamping on the barrel. I though the presence in the picture of three .410 rounds was odd, but I'm sure that isn't what the OP had in mind.

To me what's wrong with it is that it only holds two rounds and must weigh close to the heft of a J-frame, but I'm just cranky that way.

I like the Bond guns. Good little stoppers for snakes and rodents with a .410 cartridge.

Actually there were four shotshells, but I trimmed the picture. The 'wrong' is the two .45acp rounds, as previously mentioned by RichardWA.
