I've been looking at the Desantis dual angle Hunger for my 6" 686.

Can anyone tell me if it's a well made?

I recently tried out a Bianchi Cyclone and was disappointed ( Bianchi - What happened).

I want the ability to carry it cross draw. Is desantis a better choice?

Thanks for your help.

its about as well made as any of the products offered by the larger commercial leather makers.

While I don't own the "Hungar model" I do own a similar DeSantis holster for my 6" 586 (same gun but in blue) and it's descent quality. The one I have is in tan and just for strong side carry. I bought it brand new and never used it - not even once.

In general DeSantis products are descent but no where near top shelf. For the BEST, I like Kramer Horsehide but those will set you back about double the DeSantis price. If you intend on using the DeSantis holster occasionally, it should work just fine. For a gun that is carried very often I'd personally invest in the Kramer custom made Horsehide. YMMV

Take a look at Lobo Gunleather. I have one of his pancake holsters for my 4" 686, and he also makes them is dual carry. You can get a trigger guard, lining, retention strap, choose your color, it's built to your specs. Here's a pic of mine to give you an idea. Quality is top notch.

Gene made me one in about 1983 for a 6 1/2 in 29, they didn't have names back then. Wore it a lot in the car and on surveillance in the Bush. Worked great. Just pulled it out of my ready bag, still looks good to me. The only thing I regret about De Santis holsters are the ones I've sold. Best, Joe

I had and wore a DeSantis shoulder holster for many months, with an M9 Beretta, and was terrified when my pistol fell to the ground because the snaps that held the holster to the shoulder straps gave way. No indication of trouble before it happened. Got a Bianchi, and it holds up. I'm done with DeSantis...

I'm going to check out the Galco Phoenix and Lobo Leather.

Thank you for the help and advice. This is why this forum is so good.

Thanks everyone.
