Good evening, all.

I have always had a deep affection for shoulder holsters. Perhaps too many late night movies featuring private dicks and thugs packing their gats in shoulder rigs instilled a romantic view of these holsters. I have not carried in a shoulder holster for years but would like to give it another go with my round trigger guard 6906. There are a number of makers who produce shoulder holsters for this handgun but they tend to be pricey. I have no problem spending money on an item I will use regularly, however, I fear dropping a few hundred dollars or more on a custom rig only to find I don't care for it. That's where this post comes in.

I found a DeSantis New York Undercover that is marked that it will fit the 5906/6906. The price is well under $100 so dropping the coin isn't too painful.

My questions are:

1) Has anyone tried this holster for any handgun?
2) Was the quality worth the price?

Thank you much.

Thank you for the input, ibewbull. I have a Don Hume pancake for standard carry, but a decent shoulder holster would be nice to have during fall and winter when I tend to wear a jacket or coat. The price seems excellent for the DeSantis and I am wondering if I shouldn't just buy it and call it good. Worst that happens I can maybe sell it for a bit less than I paid so that I don't take a large loss. Best case I get a comfortable rig that works well for a nice price.

Well all I can tell ya is that when I first started packing about 35 years ago I ran out and bought a few Shoulder Holsters. After a few weeks of unsuccessfully being able to get them comfortable, and having to always have a jacket over them, I simply gave up and decided they were not for me. Most guys I have known that tried them also give up shortly there after.

YES, they are "sexy" on TV, but not very easy to get used to or practical for most. Sold them all a few years ago.

I have never used this particular shoulder holster, but found a shoulder rig useful for two purposes: When sitting in a car on surveillance for extended periods and when my IWB hoster finally impinged on my sciatic nerve to the point it was that or change my name to Ironside. A cover garment is, of course, essential.

Great rig. Wore it for years (the Bianchi upside down with my j frame no hyphen 36).
