A few years ago, I became interested in the Detonics .45 acp. I read the history of them and numerous owners reviews, and finally decided I had to own one. So 2 years ago this month, I finally found an early ( ca.1977) really nice one on Guns Inter., and purchased it. High quality, unique design and a great shooter. Do any other forum members own this gun ??:)

I owned one for about a year. I intended to carry it. But, the trigger was about 3.5 lbs and did actually break like a glass rod. Certainly, the early Detonics were ahead of their time. It was 100% reliable.

I think I still have a ?DeSantis? OWB pancake holster for it in one of the holster crates. (Yeah, I laugh at folks who only have a box, or worse yet, just a drawer of gunleather.) The front sight forward of the ejection port required a lower cut at the holster mouth. I'd like to see the holster paired up with the pistol it was designed for. No charge except for postage. PM me if you are interested.

Being a long time revolver shooter and fond of DA/SA "wondernines" at the time, the Detonics light trigger frankly scared me for CCW purposes. I traded it and four mags in on a S&W 4" M-57 IIRC.

It is a great piece.
