DFW Gunsmith Recommendation?

Hi all. I have a brand new S&W 610 and I just purchased an SDM fiber optic pinned front sight. I have the skills to swap the sight, but I don't have the tools.

Can anyone recommend a gunsmith in the DFW area who has the correct tools and isn't fat fingered, to do the job right?

Welcome to the forum.

Since you have the skills all you need is a flat tipped pin punch. You could buy an entire punch set for the cost to have a gunsmith do it.

Shield the surfaces surrounding the pin using a piece of sheet copper with a small hole in it for the pin and punch, taped in place. Drive from left to right. Insert the new sight blade, mark the hole location with pin punch, remove sight and drill hole. Reinstall pin.

And you'll have the punch for the next project.

Or Google the Pistolsmith Guild to find a good smith in your area, but there might not be one. And if there is one, the good ones have a long wait list.

Yes , there is an excellent gun smith in the DFW area . He's been smithing for about 40 yrs . Has done numerous jobs for me over the years , all was great and I'm a detail oriented guy . Regards Paul

Is he the one doing gunsmithing work for Mike's Gun Room in Richardson? You recommended Mike's Gun Room a year or so ago and I took two S&W revolvers there for repair work but never dealt directly with the gunsmith. Excellent work, good price, and I had them back quickly.

I believe that Mike’s shut down. But he does have a VM should one want to leave a message.

Yes , he worked out of Mikes gun room . Mike shutdown week ago last friday . I verified ph # with Mike . He has a regular day time job , so be patient calling . Regards Paul
