I apologize in advance if I post this in the wrong section or it is already being discussed, but here it is. Has anyone else read in the "Freedom Outpost of the DHS raid on a gun collector in Albuquerque NM on Wednesday? There were almost 1500 firearms seized and no charges have been filed...Supposedly he has been watched for years on his activities.. Any members in the greater Albuquerque area with knowledge of this act of theft???

Perhaps Eric Holder needs more guns for Mexico or some other place...

I've heard the same thing from some of the news sources I follow. I'm curious to know what they will be charging him with and what prompted the search and seizure...and if there was a warrant involved.

Wow...when simply owning firearms near a school is "dangerous" there is something wrong. Some people are just so stupid

Details are rather vague in what I've read.

Is he a gunrunner, or is he legitimate?
Let's wait and see.
Very few advanced collectors ever assemble a 1500 gun collection.
If he is a gunrunner or crooked dealer, it won't help our cause to defend him.

I'm not forming an opinion yet since we don't have all the facts. But.....since when did DHS work federal criminal cases like this? Where's the BATFE? Wouldn't this be in their baliwick? The DHS just makes me nervous!

"...and if there was a warrant involved."

Oh come on. IF it is true that there was a search...and IF it is true that there was an actual seizure, why would you even doubt that there was a warrant?

DHS does not just go willy-nilly into homes and confiscate property. Also, in my experience the press is notoriously inaccurate, so don't rely on their reports to be correct. There are plenty of reasons DHS could have jurisdiction in a case like this, but I'm sure BATFE was there if they needed to be.

There was definitely a warrant.
I think we will see him charged in the future.
Speculation at this point is worthless, and we have better things to watch.
