i started a similar thread here on blood sugar .
now , after searching the net some on this subject , came across " diabetes free " by doctor david pearson .
first ... has anyone tried his material ?
second ... is sent for it ! the video advertisement is pretty long , maybe 20-25 min . he DOES make sense in what he says . realizing that is what makes people curious enough to get pulled in ... but dang its only $27 !
i'll admit i spent an extra $47 by not hitting the refusal button on the first supplement offer for "revitalize " . oh well , it was after work , got off at 12 mid nite , was tired etc. many excuses but in reality all i wanted was the books and the plan .

to me , it makes sense that there MUST surely be a different approach to living with this disease . i am sure that it requires some sacrifices ....what doesent ? ! how big of life style change ? guess i will find out !

there is some sort of milk shake to concoct and consume ... it showed a quick pic , but i believe one of the three main ingredients was cinamon .
if anyone else has any info on this system or have tried it , weigh in .
hope to get the material in a few days and maybe put it into action .

i AM a believer that natural foods can go a long way to make the body function with healthy limits .
he also says the cure is already in your body , it just has to be utilized to the max .
last thing ..... he claims the medical community has know about this cure for a long time , just isnt profitable enough to justify a release of the info !
this guy may have nailed something with that one !

I heard Gov. Huckabee on the radio Friday talking about a natural cure. Google search might turn up something.

I've been taking Invokana for about a year now and that works for me. My doc said you'll need to cut out potatoes, pastas, he said a bunch more but my eyes had glazed over by then. I stopped him and said I've been eating that stuff for 30 plus years, I can't stop all that. I did cut out sugar pop and ice cream and with medication my numbers are much better.

It can be done - I would encourage you to read the real life stories of many normal people of all ages that cured diabetes and many other problems with a lifestyle change in eating habits:

Blog - Dr. William Davis

We diabetics would all love some special , simple 'natural' cure.

We are susceptible to any con that promises such a thing.

What we ignor is that today's medical treatments are indeed a miracle.

Do some reading about diabetes treatment before insulin became widely available.

Diabetes treatment is one of the success stories of twentieth century medicine.

Don't get hooked by the con artists praying on your wish for a magic solution.

If you want to try cinnamon, buy it in the spice section of the supermarket , not the vitamin/supplement section: at least you will actually get cinnamon.

Just don't imagine that cinnamon will magically cure diabetes: the best research indicates that the effect, although statistically significant in large samples, is so weak (3 points or so) that it hardly justifies the cost and certainly doesn't replace medication.

Most importantly, don't mess around with your diabetes.

All I will say is that in my opinion, there are actual cures for most of the "incurable" diseases that effect us. Due to the big pharmaceutical companies wanting to make profits, we will never hear about them.
My own experience with type 2 diabetes is that I was diagnosed about 2 years back, and started on a 2000 mg a day of metoformin. After doing some reading, I started taking 2000mg of cinnamon (from the vitamin section) and today I only need to take 1000mg of metoformin with the cinnamon to control things. That and of course, changes in what I eat.

Take your Drs. advice seriously.I can think of three people I knew who died in their thirties from this disease. My grandmother died in her early fifties, there wasn't much they could do in 1947.Modern medicine is a GOOD thing.

Yes, Type 2 can be controlled and greatly reduced by a combination of diet, exercise and in many people by meds. Type 1 is a whole different animal, there isn't any "miracle cure" for Type 1.

No one will react exactly the same, hence that there are so many meds for Type 2. I just switched from Actoplus Met XR to Janumet XR (my A1C and daily levels were running much higher with the same diet/exercise plan so the doc is hoping this will work better for me). Next blood draw will be the end of April. I've been Type 2 since 2004, my 26 yr. old son was diagnosed with type 1 at age 12.

But.. it's not a choice between herbal/natural and prescription medications. The best solution maybe a combination of both!?
So.. what are the side effects with cinnamon for that "weak 3 points or so".. none?
You want whatever medicine you're taking to be the best treatment with the least side effects!

Type II diabetes cannot be cured but it can be controlled with diet only. As I said in your blood sugar post just stop sugar and carbs and you can live med free. Eat as much meat, fish, nuts and veg as you like and you will not have a problem. If you decide to eat carbs and sugar then you will have to take meds and possibly insulin later. Your doc may not tell you the full story because big pharma wants you on meds.

As it happens, my primary care doctor concentrates on diabetes and heart disease.

When he first diagnosed me, he prescribed Metformin, but told me that it would only do a little bit to help me. The main things are diet and exercise. I even went to classes to learn what to eat and what not to eat.

Mainly I cut out snacks and sweets, yeah, the fun stuff. I also cut back on carbs in general and only eat whole grain breads and rolls.

More fruit, more vegetables. Stay away from anything with high fructose corn syrup. I read a lot of food labels these days.

I generally exercise an hour a day, 5-6 days a week. Bike one day, rowing machine the next, repeat.

I haven't lost a lot of weight, but I've lost a lot of fat.

Metformin is generally the first line medication prescribed because it has the fewest side effects. Most people are on 1Gm a day, dosed morning and evening, but a few are on higher doses. Higher doses are a bit riskier.

I don't check my blood glucose at all. I get an A1C drawn every six months since that's all I need.

There's a lot of research going in for both types of diabetes. I think we'll see a cure for Type I before Type II.

When I do classes for EMTs and paramedics, I suggest that they think of them as two different diseases.

I think what you say about no two people reacting the same is true. Some people do better than others with different medications.

GaryS, thank you for what you teach in your classes, you're doing a great service. My older son is a paramedic in the civilian world, flight medic in the military, he's brought the idea of them being two different diseases as well.

If your doctor doesn't know....

If your doctor doesn't know something as important as a cure for diabetes, or if you haven't seen it in various news sources, most likely it's bunk. Can you imagine somebody finding a cure for cancer and only hearing about it from a company that sells the product?

PS Some cases of diabetes can be controlled with diet and exercise. That's been known for decades. There is a point where no matter what you eat or how much you exercise, the body HAS NO MECHANISM to deal with glucose and therefore requires either, stimulating production of insulin, making the little insulin the body produces more efficient, or in more serious cases, insulin replacement.

I'm insulin resistant and added a product called Similin that increases the efficiency of insulin control. It worked well, but I was still taking a lot of insulin. Tried cinnamon and cut my insulin dose in half. The doctor said it was because I had changed my exercise/eating habits. I hadn't. I don't take Sawgrass or Echinacea or mango or whey because I don't believe they do squat.

My doctor did advise me to take, for various reasons, fish oil and vitamin c which has some proven benefits.

Absolutely correct. Being diagnosed with Type II diabetes is a wake up call to change your eating habits and lifestyle before you have a full meltdown. Sadly the majority of people with this disease go un-diagnosed for many years, even their whole life.
