Dick's and Field & Stream Close

Dick's in the late 1980's was great but that is a long-long time ago. Back in that time frame a lot of the leadership came from JCPenney's, so i find it somewhat ironic that both companies are circling the drain today. It has been 10+ since I have set foot in a dicks.

Dick's has the best selection and price locally on golf equipment. I've gone to them to fully outfit myself, a daughter, and three granddaughters. Their firearms department was a waste of floor space.

Oh to have all the choices some of you seem to have. We have Dicks, and nothing else. Well stocked and excellent prices. I'm not into AR type guns so I could care less if they sell them or not. After what I just witnessed this country accepting over the last 4 months, I think a business deciding not to sell AR's is the least of our problems.

I wasn't either...

My modest collection consists of many types of guns, bolt, lever, revolvers, semis, shotguns. I'd like to have an example of all types of guns. I shot an AK-47 once and immediately hated the ergonomics. I shot an AR and really liked it. Then all the talk started about banning them. I ordered two lowers for future builds.

Like you say, there is more than one big issue here in the US today and I agree wholly. Dick's can do whatever they want to do but I don't have to like it. It's a matter of principle.

I have two grandkids in need of bicycles, we went to Dicks yesterday. In teen and adult sized bikes the had one men's 10 speed (too big) and 4 girl's mountain bikes (too heavy!) and about 20 bikes for preschoolers. You won't make money if you don't have merchandise and you won't have customers either. Kind of a basic rule of business!

You should decide what the customers won't buy, before you quit selling it. In the last several years, the guns that are selling best are the markets Dick's won't cater too! Another of those fundamentals of business!

No wonder Dick's is circling the drain!

Yet Bill Ruger betrayed gun owners far worse than Dick's, and suffered no repercussions.

Do a search on the www for "the Ruger Letter" for some eye opening reading.

Was not familiar with the Ruger letter. Just found it and read.
One could debate whether banning of hi cap magazines or banning of ARs and similar firearms is worse.
I think banning ARs and similar is far worse, but that’s just me.
